800HurtZ - Audio Visualization [Unity]
A visualization of 0hz - 800z, of the songtrack.
I still haven't figured out what they say in the track, but I think it's something about hurt. I like the movements in the low frequencies, it almost makes the song sound better. This is an audio visualization preset I created with Studio Audio Peer in Unity. Thanks for watching!

For the past 3 weeks, I've worked full time on creating my audio visualization system AudioPeer, from the ground up. Implementing a different algorithm, and fixing some major issues with distributing bands by their frequencies. Typing this, is with the joy, that I can finally share the good news. The downside of using 3D...

      You will get access to the beta for $12 a month, It will be released under the Creative Commons license. So not for commercial use, though as the plugin is more solidified, it will become available on the Unity Asset Store. If you would like to use it for commercial use in this stage, you can contact me. Currently my website/email is down, so you can contact me on Patreon account, or through Discord: PeerPlay. I'd say try it out first.

      Hi, I'm not sure what the problem might be. It could be that you used the capital Get instead of get, or it's something else. Make sure that you are using the Unity builtin pipeline. What version are you using. It could be that there have been changes with new versions. Here is a link with the RaymarchCamera script, as the result of this tutorial part. Try to compare this script with your version, and see if this works. pastebin.com/yS6MW1k4 Let me know if it helps!

      It's not a secret. I don't have a tutorial yet on this specific shader, but it's a combination of Audio Visualization, that you can learn by following my tutorial series called Audio Visualization in Unity, and using Raymarching technique, of which I also have a tutorial series. Ofcourse it would be nice if I could make a tutorial on this visualization specific. I'd like to make a tutorial on that aswell, or release this as source code on patreon. I need to spend some more time on thinking of a best strategy, but above tips should get you started.

    For anyone confused about the part when he multiplies _samples[count] * (count + 1) I can answer that. In Unity higher frequencies have exponentially smaller values, by multiplying by count, it offsets the smaller numbers that come with high frequencies. Making the output for the _freqBand more normal.

      Yes, try adding these 2 functions OperationRepetitionLimited: float2 opRepLim(in float2 p, in float s, in float2 lim) { return p-s*clamp(round(p/s),-lim, lim); } float2 opRepLim(in float2 p, in float s, in float2 limmin, in float2 limmax) { return p-s*clamp(round(p/s),-limmin, limmax); } an example of implementation: //store position in q, so you can use the repetition for a specific object float3 q = p; // repeat the object with a distance of 1.0, 40 times in X and 20 times in Z //this works from the centerpoint, so it will add the 40 on each sides of the original, so this creates a row of 81 in X, and 41 in Z dimension q.xz = opRepLim(q.xz, 1.0, float2(40.0,20.0));

(size - halfsize) : (-size + halfsize); // Sets 'p' to the maximum allowed or minimum allowed value depending on the side return maxCopies; //Returns the limit of copies } p = fmod(p + halfsize, size) - halfsize; // Sets 'p' to be in the range [-size/2, size/2) using the fmod function. p = fmod(-p + halfsize, size) - halfsize; // Adjust 'p' to keep it in the range [-size/2, size/2) using the fmod function, this time with the negation of 'p'. return (c >= 0) ? (c + 1) : (c - 1); // Returns the number of wrappers and also adjusts 'p' in the process. } but when the copies collide with each other, it fills up to infinity 😭

Yeah, that would probably be possible, and could actually be a really cool idea to sell my visuals, as mixed realilty toys / artworks to put in your room. This is purely a raytraced shader, have to see how it performs in VR, but luckily nowadays VR is more powerful. Might get really heavy, as its basically raytracing on left and right eye, for each pixel. I have to be careful with these shaders anyways, to not overly do stuff, to get high framerate, but ofcourse that is also the fun challenge with these shaders.

      Would even be cooler to make this in real life, with a mini cilinder, inside another cylinder of maybe 2mm diameter, spanning 3mm to the next one and have like like this example 81x81 of these, which would form a 24cm2 grid, and then put it within a glass cube, and have them all pushed up and down based on sinewaves and noise, with each cylinder being a led light. would be a pretty expensive toy though.

      I don't see the point of uploading this to unity assetstore. Right now, this serves as a video on youtube, to have some extra content on my channel. I might sell it as a standalone visual on my Patreon, or create an Interactive Audio Visual out of it. This is something I still like to make at some point. Visuals that you can adjust as a player, and use some game mechanics to interact with the visualizer, while playing your own music. I think that could be something people might be interested in, so you can use it as a gadget at your local party, or use it to record your own audio for content.

      depends, how would you like to buy it? As a standalone program, that you can use for your own visuals on music and customize, or as a unity asset source code? What do you mean?

    hey, i started doing audio visualization thanks to you but my project always reaches the 20-30fps when i have too much objects/draw calls are you using a shader or something optimizating the game?

    • @PeerPlay
      @PeerPlay 5 місяців тому

      Yeah, I've been, and still run into that problem aswell. Doing too many things on the cpu, is heavy. You have to get creative to use alot of objects. This scene, is just a shader, with a calculation of a 2 cilinders and a cube. The rest is a duplicate of that, using modulation, to get infinite amounts. In objects spawning, you need to look at gpu instancing your objects, and materials, look at shared materials, or use a compute shader to render them. If you are talking about 100.000+ objects

    Do you use the built-in renderer or URP?

    • @PeerPlay
      @PeerPlay 5 місяців тому

      for this visual I'm still using the built-in renderer, based on the system I created with the raymarching tutorial you can find on my channel from 5 years ago. In the next months, I will upgrade the system to URP renderer though.

      most VJ's use Resolume for their visuals. Using unity for audio visualization is kind of a niche.

    but wouldnt normal screenshake via script be more performant than using shaders?

    • @PeerPlay
      @PeerPlay 5 місяців тому

      Yes, if you want the result of this part, you should just use a script to offset the camera. This is just the build-up towards the partial screenshake, which you can't do by moving the camera.
